The European Innovation Council (EIC) confirms Nicolab’s vision for healthcare with a grant, choosing from more than 1,000 start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around Europe.

We are excited to announce that Nicolab has been selected to receive a grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) to support further our innovative work in stroke care.

Of over 1000 start-ups and SMEs that submitted a full application for funding, only 78 (less than 10%) were successful, and only 15% of the successful companies have female CEOs. We are proud to be one of them.

What is the EIC?

The EIC is a European Union (EU) organization that supports innovative businesses and helps them bring their ideas to market.

It has been established under the EU Horizon Europe program, with a budget of €10.1 billion to “support game-changing innovations throughout the lifecycle from early-stage research, to proof of concept, technology transfer, and the financing and scale up of start-ups and SMEs.”

The EIC Accelerator’s grants are highly competitive, with only the most promising businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) being selected to receive up to €2.5 million combined with equity investments through the EIC Fund ranging from €0.5 to €15 million.

In addition to providing funding, the EIC offers a range of acceleration services and expertise to help businesses succeed. These can include access to networks and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts.

The importance of the EIC Accelerator’s grant for Nicolab work on stroke care

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and we believe that our technology has the potential to make a real impact in this field.

At Nicolab, we are focused on developing innovative solutions for saving time to treatment in order to improve patients’ outcomes. This is why we are thrilled to have received a grant from the European Innovation Council for our work in stroke care.
This is a significant milestone recognizing our company’s potential and innovative solutions to improve the stroke workflow.

We look forward to working with the EIC to bring our ideas to market and make a real difference for the patients, improving stroke care by empowering physicians to provide every patient with the right treatment in time.
